Day 28-Opa!

I honestly never thought that I would come to the point in my Whole30 where I forgot I was doing a Whole30. This morning I prepped tuna fish and cucumbers for lunch, since we ate out last night. I cooked up some chorizo for Mary Gwen, I think she’s addicted, and some breakfast sausage from Luck’y Market for me. I tried a new recipe tonight Greek Meatballs with Avocado Tzatziki Sauce by Primally Inspired plated on a bed of arugula and baked some potato wedges. It was amazing!

Day 28:

What went well?

MG– I’ve felt pretty good overall, I still do have random cravings for things that aren’t Whole30 and I’ve decided that I won’t be reintroducing on day 31. My stomach feels flatter and each day I continue to feel like I learn more about my eating habits.

G-Honestly, Whole30 has become second nature to me. When it occurred to me that we didn’t have any food prepped for lunches today, it was very natural for me to make tuna fish with veggies.

What could have gone better?

MG– Today was super busy at work and I couldn’t eat while counting cash (gross!) so I waited too long to eat lunch. I’ve found that when I wait that long, I’m still hungry and it’s harder to get full for me.

G-While tuna fish was really the only option we had for a quick lunch meal this morning, it has gotten a little old. Really wish we could find compliant lunch meat or something else for easier lunch.

What will you do tomorrow?

MG– I’m going to try to eat at a more reasonable hour for lunch and as always work on getting more water.

G-With food prepped and ready for tomorrow, I am excited to try another new recipe and work on my Food Freedom introduction plan.

Thingamajig of the day:

I’ll be honest, I haven’t been feeling that well the past few days. I can’t tell if its just my allergies or something more, but regardless with all the Flu and viruses I am not taking any chances. A while back, when Mary Gwen and I decided that we were going to try Young Living Essential Oils, I bought us both InnooCare Essential Oil Diffuser for our offices. I have been diffusing Eucalyptus and Wintergreen, and I can definitely feel a difference in my sinuses. Even if you aren’t entirely convinced about oils, they will make your house smell good; but,  I would highly suggest trying them for immunity boosting,if nothing else.

Day 27- Back to reality…almost

After having been a little crazy on my schedule for Friday and Saturday, it was nice to be somewhat normal today. My mom and her husband came into town and we were able to enjoy a wonderful dinner at Jianna’s with them. I had called Jianna’s earlier in the week to make sure they would be able to accommodate our Whole30 needs; and they were fabulous. I even tried olives again and guess what? I liked them! Now, I have a new healthy fat that I can add to the rotation.

Day 27:

What went well?

MG– I ate at more of a regular schedule and made certain that they were varied and included vegetables.

G– I had emergency while I traveled which was nice after not eating enough at lunch. I also enjoyed dinner with MG’s family.

What could have gone better?

MG– I definitely could’ve eaten lunch earlier than I did but I was trying to get my house cleaned up and running errands so I put eating to the back burner for a little too long.

G– I’m not feeling 100% after traveling and I’m really missing some of the home remedies such as chicken noodle soup.

What will you do tomorrow?

MG– I feel like I need to make sure that I have enough to eat at meals and make sure they are filling enough.

G– Meal prep in the morning and try to boost my immune system with eating lots of veggies and drinking compliant tea.

Thingamajig of the Day

I really dislike sponges. I feel like they are super gross all the time and super smelly even when you put them in the dishwasher or do the microwave disinfecting trick. Well, a few years ago, my mom gave me a Wet-it Sponge and I absolutely love them. They have cute prints and they hold up for a long time. You can wash them in the dishwasher, washing machine, or put bleach on them to disinfect them (just be sure you don’t put white vinegar on them!!). I got myself a few this weekend while in Asheville at L.O.F.T.  Oh, and if you don’t want to use them on your dishes, you can supposedly use them in place of a washcloth!

Day 26-Big Blue Whole30

Eating Whole30 without Mary Gwen was a new experience for me. I’m so used to cooking and discussing meals with her, its odd to just cook and do my own thing. My sister enjoyed shopping at Costco and discovering all the Whole30 and organic options available there. We ended our day of shopping at Lucky’s Market, which had an amazing selection of compliant meats and more!

Day 26:

What went well?

MG-I didn’t break Whole30, even though I was starving at the grocery store and while driving home from Asheville.

G-I enjoyed cooking Whole30 for my sister and showing her some of our favorite items at our favorite stores.

What could have gone better?

MG-Being prepared and eating on a better schedule.

G-Between sleeping in and shopping all day long, we didn’t get three meals in, but my sister enjoyed the meals that I made and is working towards her first Whole30.

What will you do tomorrow?

MG-I will be going out to dinner at a place that I have already called. Most of the meals are easily modifiable. I will make sure to do some meal prep.

G-Make sure to pack my emergency food and enjoy a local restaurant that has Whole30 compliant options in Greenville.

Stuff and thingamajigs:

One thing I was very excited about while visiting my sister was to make homemade chapsticks with our essential oils. MG has received several from my sister and mom and loves them. We were able to make an immunity boosting version with Theives and orange. The kit that I ordered was very handy and Wellness Mama’s recipe was easy to follow.
